Courtney Terry

Courtney Terry serves as the Assistant Director of Information Technology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, bringing over 20 years of expertise in IT operations, project management, and leadership. She is responsible for overseeing academic systems, educational technologies, and special projects across Rutgers NJ Medical School and the School of Graduate Studies under the Rutgers Health umbrella. Her strong leadership skills have earned her the distinguished role of co-leading the IT Integration Taskforce, guiding the merger and consolidation of IT systems for the forthcoming union of Robert Wood Johnson and Rutgers NJ Medical Schools into the newly branded Rutgers School of Medicine.

 

Beyond her technical and project management prowess, Courtney has been a staunch advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives over the past five years. Her leadership in this vital area is evident through her roles in esteemed organizations such as the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), where she serves as the Diversity and Inclusion Lead on the Group on Information Resources; Steering Committee, and the Big Ten Academic Alliance, where she is the Vice Chair of the Women+ in IT executive team.

 

Courtney's dedication to promoting equity and inclusion has been acknowledged with several accolades, including the Rutgers Chancellors of Excellence Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award in 2023. Her contributions have been featured in Pulse magazine (2022), Rutgers IT Staff Spotlight (2023), and Rutgers NJMS Spotlight (2024).

 

In addition to her professional achievements, Courtney actively participates in community organizations and outreach initiatives. She is the 2nd Vice President of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) Greater Elizabeth Section Area, recently receiving recognition for her dedication and service. She has also been involved with the Sisters in Training For Life (STFL) organization, a leadership and mentoring program for high school girls.

 

Balancing her professional and community commitments with personal wellness, Courtney founded Sister Girls Fitness, LLC in 2013, a women's group focused on health and wellness through fitness and sisterhood. Her passion for fitness has led her to complete several half marathons and a full marathon (26.2 miles). An adventurous spirit, she enjoys skydiving and challenging hiking trails. In her leisure time, she loves spending quality moments with family and friends. In her previous career, Courtney was a background singer for Faith Evans, collaborated with KRS-One and Mad Lion on their albums, and wrote a song “Come Home” on one of Angie Stone’s albums.

 

Courtney holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Administration from Rutgers University and several IT certifications. Her multifaceted career reflects her commitment to blending leadership and technical expertise with a strong passion for equity and inclusion. Courtney is honored and excited to serve as a board member of the Ryder's Room Foundation, dedicated to giving a voice to children with autism promoting inclusivity, and making an impact within this community.
